Immunisation and Vaccinations
A comprehensive range of engagement activities were carried during May and June 2010 to support the Immunisation and Vaccination strategy. Feedback from 20 focus groups held across the city, as well as individual interviews and questionnaires, were collated by the Public and Patient Engagement Team and considered by the Immunisation and Vaccination Taskforce. Over 150 local people took part in these engagement activities.
The majority of engagement sessions for this project were delivered within Children’s Centres across Coventry and focused on finding out people’s understanding of the timing and purpose of vaccinations and the illnesses they protected children against. Good working relationships were built up with Children’s Centres during this piece of work and this will continue in the future around issues such as Infant Mortality and Breastfeeding.
The project feedback has been used as the basis of a communications plan to ensure targeted messages about immunisation and vaccination could be shared with parents of young children.
