Best Health for Everyone

The BIG Join the Conversation Survey

In early 2010, NHS Coventry asked more than 2,000 local people for their feedback on NHS services in Coventry. Teams of researchers visited shopping centres and community locations and were amazed at the amount of people who wanted to share their views.

Almost 79% of respondents said they were either “very satisfied” or “fairly satisfied” with local health services, while 9% said they were either “fairly” or “very dissatisfied”.

The survey asked individuals to suggest one thing the NHS could do to improve patient experience. The most popular suggestions were “reduce waiting times for appointments” (38%) and “free parking” (17%). These vary from last year when the most popular was “more convenient opening times” with 39%, followed by “services closer to home” with 17%.

The survey also looked at a range of other issues, including GP services, hospital care, community services, health information, mental health and healthy lifestyle issues. The detailed report was shared with the PCT Board and cascaded widely to commissioners and clinicians across the city to use when making decisions.
