Best Health for Everyone

PPE Annual Reports

The PPE Annual Report details the achievements made by NHS Coventry in the past year in relation to meaningful public, patient and Carer involvement.

As an organisation we continue to mainstream this work as a key part of our Commissioning cycle, ensuring that the decisions we make are underpinned by a clear understanding of public views, concerns and aspirations.

As well as supporting our decision making process, patient engagement is central to our approach to patient experience. We use insight from a wide range of engagement activities and feedback mechanisms to ensure the services we Commission deliver high quality patient experience. This report details some of the innovative work that NHS Coventry has delivered ranging from large scale research exercises with the public to focused work with sex workers in the city.

The challenges facing public services in the next few years are considerable and, especially now, we must make sure that services are designed and remodelled around the needs and wants of people. Now is not the time to reduce our efforts or lose our focus on consulting people and communities.

  • Carer
A person sho provides a substantial amount of care on a regular basis, and who is not employed to do so by an agency or organisation.
  • Commissioning
Process by which the health needs of the local population are identified. Priorities for investment are set and appropriate services are purchased and evaluated. Primary Care Trusts do not provide all of the healthcare services needed by the local population, they buy-in or commission services from other provider organisations. Typically this includes local hospitals.
