NHS Coventry, NHS Warwickshire and JD bring you the right choice in health services!
A new video starring JD (John Dalziel) from Mercia radio is taking to the screens today to help people across Coventry and Warwickshire understand the importance of choosing the right health service at the right time, in the right place.
The NHS in Coventry and Warwickshire have worked together with local radio station Mercia to create a video featuring JD on his journey to getting the right treatment for his ‘man flu’. He starts off by presenting the morning breakfast show and struggles to carry on with the show because of his ‘man flu’ and goes off on journey looking for treatment from a local health service.
NHS Coventry and NHS Warwickshire has launched the campaign with Mercia radio to help educate local people about the appropriate choices they should make to get the best treatment or advice, and reduce pressure on Accident and Emergency services.
As well as the video - there is the Get The Right Treatment App which can be downloaded by visiting www.coventrypct.nhs.uk/HealthServices/GTRT/App - you can find information about which health services are available across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Alison Gingell, Chair of NHS Coventry, said: “We’re using the growing phenomenon of social media to highlight the issues about using health services appropriately and getting people to think and talk about their health in different way.
“We have a fantastic A&E department in Coventry that is there to deal with very serious illnesses and injuries that require immediate hospital attention, however we know that many people each day visit when other more appropriate services would have been quicker for them and cheaper for the NHS.
“We have launched this major campaign to get across the message that there are a wide range of NHS services available such as self care; community pharmacies; local GPs and the Walk-In Centre which could provide the right care. We need to keep our A&E departments free to focus on genuine accidents and emergencies.”
People in Coventry and Warwickshire are being urged to be a time chooser, not a time loser, as part of an NHS drive to ensure they get the right treatment.
