Workforce Statistics
As a public body, we have a legal obligation to publish information about the make up of our staff by gender, ethnicity and disability.
We have chosen to go further than this, and are publishing some statistics broken down by pay band.

Under the new Equality Act, we will have to publish our gender pay gap from 2013. Once again, we have chosen to implement this earlier. The gender pay gap is the percentage difference between the hourly pay of the mean male employee and the mean female employee. Mean is the person who is in the middle as opposed to average, which is the total, divided by the number of people. Our current (February 2010) gender pay gap is 15.72%. Nationally, the gap is 22.6%. We will be putting an action plan in place to address the gap.
