Coventry & Warwickshire Workforce Locality Stakeholder Board
The Workforce Board is here to plan the future workforce for health services in Coventry & Warwickshire - getting the right staff with the right skills into the right place at the right time. That means we look at the education and training that is required, both for first time students joining the health service and for current and future staff.
We are one of five Locality Boards that cover the West Midlands and we link into the Strategic Health Authority who has given us a budget to spend on local priorities.
All of the PCTs and NHS Trusts in Coventry & Warwickshire, along with the Local Authorities, are members of the Board together with our two local universities, the Skills Funding Agency, the Strategic Health Authority and the City Councils. We are currently looking at how best we can involve the voluntary sector and independent health care providers.
We have a number of sub groups who do the detailed work to take forward our plans. At the moment, there are four of these which focus on:
- Education – its provision and quality
- Leadership and management - developing the skills to help lead and implement improvements in health care
- Recruiting and developing staff - clinical and non-clinical
- Workforce planning – how services are likely to change and what that means in numbers and dates
Each year we set priorities and allocate resources to projects that will address the priorities. For the year to March 2011 these include:
- The Children and Young People’s Workforce
- Workforce Availability
- Improving Productivity
