Projects in Progress

The Workforce Locality Stakeholder Board is currently facilitating the implementation of eleven workforce projects across the locality. The projects are due to deliver across 2010-11 and are outlined in the list below:

Assistive Technology: Warwickshire Community Health
The project is developing, implementing and evaluating a bespoke workshop designed to meet the education needs identified by the previously funded ‘Assistive Technology’ project in relation to staff working along the ‘falls’ care pathway.

Brief Intervention Training: NHS Coventry
The project has commissioned the development and implementation of an education programme aimed at enabling a broad range of staff working across all Coventry and Warwickshire provider organisations to deliver Brief Interventions.

Coventry Mental Health Employment Project: Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership Trust
The project was funded across 2008/09 and has been allocated an additional year of funding. The project is continuing to work with Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership Trust and Local Authority service users to: support them into employment, assist with their recovery and social inclusion and further develop the employment opportunities within Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership Trust.

Coventry & Warwickshire Leadership and Management Learning Strategy: NHS Coventry
The project is:- Facilitating the implementation of the talent Management framework developed as a result of previous years funding.

  • Commissioning and implementing coaching programmes for staff
  • Commissioning and implementing the Transactional Programme for middle managers.

To date over 100 individuals across Coventry & Warwickshire have taken advantage of these development opportunities.

Coventry & Warwickshire Rehabilitation Workforce Development: Coventry Community Health Services
This project received a second year of funding to further develop, expand and embed the rehabilitation workforce competency framework developed as a result of the project funded across 2008-9.

Dementia Care - Workforce Education: NHS Coventry
The project is scoping the education and skill needs of the workforce in relation to dementia care to ensure staff can effectively meet the needs of people with dementia and their carers. Education strategies will then be developed and implemented to address the education and skill needs identified.

Dementia Care - Supporting and Educating Users and Carers: NHS Coventry
The project is scoping the education and support needs of people with dementia and their carers within Coventry and Warwickshire. The information gained is being used to develop education resources to meet the needs identified and make recommendations regarding appropriate support strategies.

End of Life Care - clinical skills enhancement: University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire
This project has built upon on the success of the previous project funded across 2008-9 and is:

  • Continuing to facilitate the development of enhanced communication skills for registered staff.
  • Scoping and meeting the education needs of individuals working in End of Life Care at Bands 1-4.
  • Developing a patient and Carer resource pack for use across the health economy.

Health Tec: Coventry Community Health Services
The Health Tec aims to: enthuse young people about science; to develop their understanding of their own health and well being and to promote the notion of active citizenship in relation to the use and development of clinical and social services. The Health Tec also aims to make young people’s learning relevant to the world of work in our sector and support and promote excellent careers advice and guidance.

Long Term Conditions - Enabling care closer to home for patients with long-term conditions: Warwickshire Community Health
The project has developed an education package to further develop the skills of registered nursing staff and health care assistants in relation to caring for individuals who have long term conditions. Over 120 individuals participated in the education and an evaluation of the impact on patient care is currently been undertaken.

Weight Management - Development Programme for Community Nurses: NHS Coventry
An education programme has been commissioned and implemented for staff who have a role in weight management within Coventry and Warwickshire.

    A person sho provides a substantial amount of care on a regular basis, and who is not employed to do so by an agency or organisation.
